Award winning writer Raman-Wilms publishes first novel

Menaka Raman-Wilms, who won the Foundation’s Alice Munro Festival of the Short Story youth award in 2016, has just had her first novel published by Nightwood Editions.  The Rooftop Garden, a psychological thriller, is set in Toronto and Berlin and has been shortlisted for The Guernica Prize.

Raman-Wilms, a writer and journalist based in Toronto, has had short stories published in Broken Pencil Magazine and Acta Victoriana, won Room Magazine’s 2012 fiction contest, and was shortlisted for the 2019 CBC Short Story Prize.  She currently hosts The Decibel, a daily news podcast at The Globe and Mail.
